INTERNATIONAL ADMISSIONS - ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

General criteria for admission to undergraduate programs are:

1. Successful completion of secondary education (graduation from high school or equivalent)
2. Curriculum - at least four units of English, three units of laboratory sciences, three units of mathematics, and two units of history.
3. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - minimum score required for undergraduate admission is 550 (paper version); 213 (computer/electronic version); or 79-80 (Internet version). We recommend that you take the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) also. It is the applicant's responsibility to make arrangements for these tests that are given several times a year in countries throughout the world.

HEALTH & IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS

Medical services in the United States are not nationalized. Costs for doctors' services and hospitals may be more expensive than in your home country. Longwood requires that you subscribe to a health insurance plan before arriving. That policy must provide similar coverage in the U.S.

Every undergraduate student taking 12 or more credit hours must have a health record on file. This record includes immunizations for Measles, German Measles, Rubella, Polio, Diphtheria, Mumps, Tetanus, and a Tuberculosis skin test (PPD) within the past year, which are required by Virginia law. Students may not be able to register for classes without complying with these immunizations. A chest x-ray may also be required for tuberculosis screening.
