TRANSFER PROCEDURES & DEADLINES

SECOND UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE

To make sure that your pursuit of a second undergraduate degree is as efficient as possible, Longwood requires you to apply for graduation at the same time you apply for admission. Please complete the following steps:

  1. Complete an Adult Application for Admission.

Send it with your $40.00 fee to:
    Longwood Admissions Office
    201 High Street
    Farmville, VA 23909
  2. Request that transcripts be sent directly to us from each college or university you have attended.
  3. Contact the chair of your department to schedule an appointment. (See phone numbers below.)
  4. Meet with the chair of your department to complete an Application for Degree, which may be obtained from the Admissions and Registration Offices. One will be sent to you upon receipt of your Application for Admission.
  5. Pay the graduation fee in the cashiering office (2nd floor Lancaster).
  6. File the completed Application for Degree with the receipt from cashiering in the Registrar's Office (Barlow Building).

Once the Registrar's Office has received your Application for Degree, they will notify the Admissions Office to proceed with your Application for Admissions. This unique process is designed to make sure that you are fully aware of the remaining requirements for your second undergraduate degree.

Your first degree will automatically satisfy the General Education Goals of Longwood. The chair of your department will determine all other equivalencies. At a minimum, you will need to earn thirty hours at the 300-400 level at Longwood. You must meet all prerequisites and requirements for your major that have not otherwise been met through your first degree. Again, the minimum credits will be 30; however, we have seen students needing as many as 90 credits. We have no way of predicting your remaining requirements until you complete the above-mentioned steps.

If you have any questions, you may call 434.395.2746.
