GETTING IN

Photo of a Longwood University SororityAdmission decisions are competitive and based on your academic performance in high school, grade-point-average, types of courses, class standing, and SAT or ACT scores. The Admissions Committee will also review additional information you submit in support of your application. Primary emphasis, however, will be placed on your academic credentials. The average GPA for accepted freshmen for the fall of 2008 was a 3.4 and the SAT mid-range was between 1020-1150.

Scholarship: January 15
Regular Admission: March 1 for Fall
  October 15 for Spring
National Deposit Deadline: May 1


Freshman Admission Requirements

English 4 years
Math 3 years- Algebra I, Algebra II, & Geometry
Science 3 years- Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Physical Science, Earth Science (2 units must include a lab)
History/ Social Studies 3 years
Foreign Language** 2 years of one foreign language (additional years of one language strongly recommended)
Health/ Physical Education 2 years
Fine or Practical Arts 1 year

**American Sign Language is not considered for admissions purposes.

 

Students applying to transfer from another college must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, and at least 30 transferable credits including coursework in English, math, science, and history to be competitive. The average transfer GPA for the fall of 2006 was 3.1.
